Hello, I'm

Arpan Kaphle

Software Engineer at Google

I immigrated from Nepal at age 5 and grew up in Texas. I graduated from MIT with a B.S. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, a second major in Physics, and an M.Eng. in Computer Science focused on Reinforcement Learning and AI.

At Google, I work on authentication flows, including productionizing Jetpack authentication for passkeys on Android OS. Previously, I've built systems at Amazon Prime Video, contributed to AR tools for autism support at Brain Power, and co-founded a mental health startup during my time at MIT.

Outside of work, I enjoy tinkering on drones, making beats, astrophotography, and playing a range of sports from MMA to tennis. I'm grateful to my family—Shiva, Gita, and Aaron Kaphle—and everyone who has supported my journey.

This is my professional/resume-style site. Looking for something more fun? Check out my early internet era variant with more graphics and flair!

Tidbits & Throwbacks

Some fun moments and memories from the journey—because not everything has to be serious.

🤖 Open Source @ Google

Some of my work is visible! Check out my Gerrit contributions to Credential Manager—from preU CredMan productionization in Jetpack to Single Tap provider additions. (Most code lives in AOSP proper + proprietary repos.)

📜 Masters Thesis

My RL-based PCB routing research is on Google Scholar. Forever grateful to Prof. Cathy Wu, Taylor Hogan, Luke Roberto, and everyone who made it possible.

🎓 MIT Commencement 2022

Walked through Killian Court... virtually! (Thanks, COVID.) You can find me in the official graduate name book. Still a good memory!

🔬 6.804 Collaboration

Senior year project on predicting behavior of bad actors near buildings with Tianmin Shu—now doing amazing AI research!

🚀 The Space Dream

Back in high school, I was sure I'd work in space. While that's not my career now, I got to study inflation theory with Alan Guth himself—so dreams do come true, just differently! Here's me talking about John Glenn on the news 🛸

🏆 High School Glory Days

National Merit Semifinalist (2016). Also placed top 3 (tied) in UIL Calculator—6th after tiebreakers. Peak high school energy: questionable fashion, too much caffeine, calculator championships. 🧮
